My Redworm Compost Farm

 Feeding my turtle is quite easy. She knows what she likes and doesn't like. But the one thing she goes nuts for, is worms. Worms, however, can get expensive if I'm buying them by the dozen. So I built a worm farm to turn my unused veggie and coffee ground leftovers into worm food.

 I started by dovetailing 5 identical trays. The dovetails didn't need to look pretty. just functional. And he dovetails give the trays a sturdy frame.

A lip on each tray helps them sit square on top of one another. I added handles for each one using 2x2's.

 Some construction wire on the bottom of the trays allows the worms to wiggle their way up to the next tray after finishing the one they are in.

 The trays are by no means perfect. but they do work well. They aren't too tight yet not so loose that they would fall off each other.

With leftover wood I started to see what it would look like if I gave it a roof. After deciding I like it I went to Home Depot and picked up more wood and finished the roof.

The little worm farm has been working well for 2 1/2 months now. I think in the future I may paint the outside and maybe add a front flap to help add the food. Though it really isn't much trouble to just lift off the roof. I purchased 1000 worms for $35 from Uncle Jim's. I think I may have anywhere from 1500 to 2000 worms now.
